Answering some FAQ’s – Pasture Posts #72

We wanted to take the opportunity with this newsletter to address a few common questions that we receive from customers or prospective customers from time to time. Maybe you’ve wondered the same thing and will benefit from the answers to these frequently asked questions.

  • Do you deliver to my home?
    • The answer is most likely yes, but the real question is do we do so with UPS or with our own Home Delivery service. The most desirable method for most customers is our own service because we can deliver any product that we offer, and we do so in our own refrigerated vans. This includes everything from our frozen meats to milk and eggs and more.
    • The quickest way to find out if you are in one of our zip codes that we deliver to with our vans is to simply type in your zip code in the Help Widget at the bottom right corner of any page on our site. When you do this you will likely see a help article titled something like “Home Delivery Zip Codes for…” Click on the article to see the list of zip codes near you and if yours is in the list then you will be able to select Home Delivery as you place your order!
    • If you can’t find your zip code, and you’re east of the Mississippi River, then we can serve you via our UPS Eligible bundles.
  • How long will the meat last in my freezer?
    • The short answer is a long time assuming the packages remain sealed well. We have consumed product that was well over a year old (because it got buried in a back corner of a walk in freezer…oops 🤦‍♂️) and we couldn’t tell a difference from the new product.
    • Our policy is not to sell anything over 1 year old, but we really don’t have any product that gets close to that old anyway.
    • We have trained our order fulfillment team in the proper ways to handle meat packages in order to preserve the integrity of the seal, and provide feedback to the processor if we see an unacceptable number of broken seals at any time.
  • Can we have a tour when we come to pick up our order?
    • We wish we could take the time to give tours to everyone anytime they wished, but the reality is we are stretched thin and tours take a lot of time.
    • We offer about 3 tour opportunities per year right now: the Spring Farm Day, The Ag+Art Tour (usually in June each year), and the Fall Farm Day (scheduled for October 22). Please take advantage of these as we have moved to free hay ride tours for each of these farm days. We try to cram as many tours as possible into these days and cover as much as possible during each tour. We also have vendors and food trucks many times.
    • We love that our customers are so interested in learning about our operation, and we hope to see you at a future Farm Day!

Product Spotlight

We have two things we want to bring to your attention this week. First is our Standard Bulk Pork Bundles. Like all our bundles, you save money by helping us move product. But with these larger bundles, you save even more money!

Second is a sale we think you’ll love. We’re offering Filet Mignon for over 30% off! The sale price is $19.99/lb which is over $9 off the retail rate. This is for a limited time while supplies last so don’t delay.

Some cuts that we don’t look to run out of soon are Beef Ribs and Bones. So we’re once again putting them on sale to help us clear some much-needed freezer space. For some of our recommended products, check out our Featured Product Page.  You might find something that you didn’t even know we had!

Help us spread the word!

It’s now easier than ever to Give $15 and Get $15 through our Referral Program.  We don’t spend a lot of money of advertising, but rather we focus on producing products that people love and are willing to tell others about.  So we depend on word of mouth to find new customers and ultimately to heal more land.

So in an effort to streamline this process we have made it easier to tell others (via email, Facebook, or Twitter) about Watson Farms.  And it’s all automated on the backend, so you don’t have to rely on us to issue the store credits manually.  Just head over to our Referrals Page and start sharing!

We re-use packaging!

We’ve seen a good response to our efforts in re-using packaging! Thanks and keep it up.

You can help us reduce our carbon footprint by returning your CLEAN egg cartons and meat boxes.

The main reason that we switched to plastic egg cartons a while back was because they are so much more durable than paper which could only be used once.  They also protect the eggs much better!

So if you have some egg cartons or boxes to return, you can just place them on your porch on your home delivery day.  Farm pickup customers can, of course, drop them off when you come to pick up your new order.

***We can only re-use OUR cartons or boxes. Please re-use or recycle other boxes or egg cartons elsewhere.***

We redact your personal information found on your meat boxes when we re-use them, but feel free to redact to redact it yourself without damaging the box if you would like.

Thanks for helping us re-use our packaging!

Did you know that we have a webpage that displays all the reviews we have received?

Check it out!

Check out this ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ review:

“This place is Brilliant! The best, most fresh pastured meats delivered to your door! We tried a small amount of the pork and beef a couple of weeks ago. It was outstanding! Today I received 1/4 of an entire pig! Yum! 30-40 pounds of mixed cuts and sausage, bacon, ribs and butts. Met the owner and Sam the new driver. Friendly, on time, you can’t go wrong here folks!”

We would greatly appreciate it if you would be kind enough to leave us a review.  It helps first-time customers purchase with confidence.

Thanks again for being partners in this endeavor of local, pasture-raised proteins that has truly transformed our farm.  We look forward to continuing this transition while serving you long into the future.

Sincerely,

The Watsons
