Thanks for sticking with us! – Pasture Posts #42

All companies have to change the way they do business from time to time if they intend to serve their customers in the future and not just today.  Technology, methods of production, customer demands and many other things change that require a business to adapt if they intend to stay in business.

One area that we have had to greatly improve upon in the 14 years that we’ve been direct-marketing meats is customer convenience.  Recently I looked back at some customer emails from around 2008, and several things were evidence of how difficult it was for customers to actually purchase from our farm back then.

For example, up until 2014, to place an order with us you had to email us what you would like.  Then we would try to assemble it and almost every time we would have to inform you that at least one thing you wanted was not actually in stock.  This created a convoluted back-and-forth that could get very frustrating, so only the most dedicated customers would actually stick with us for more than a couple orders.

Another example is delivery.  While Home Delivery doesn’t work for everyone, we think it is a great step in convenience for most customers compared to meeting in a parking lot or travelling a long way to pick up here at the farm.  Today, we offer Home Delivery with our van to around 150 zip codes in the Carolinas, and with our UPS Eligible products we can serve over 15 states in the Eastern U.S!

Another thing that we’ve greatly expanded on is our product offering.  When we first started in 2007 we just offered beef, thus the web address, watsonfarmsbeef.com.  (We recently were able to acquire the web address watsonfarms.com, which now points to our existing website.) But since those early years we have added a myriad of products.  The first of which was pasture raised pork, then chicken and eggs.  More recently we have added staples like milk from a local dairy and also goat cheeses, honey, pecans, grits and cornmeal.  We hope to continue adding items like these to further become your one stop shop for local, wholesome foods.

So like last week, we want to again extend the invitation to you to suggest new products or new ways that we can be more convenient for you.  Just use the button below to head over to a short form to submit your suggestions.

So to wrap up we want to say thank you to all of our customers, especially those who have stuck with us through the times when we were working toward better ways to serve you.  We continue to do so, and we hope you will stick with us in the future as well.  When farmers and consumers are committed, we truly believe that we can greatly change our food system to one that enhances the lives of our communities, soil, and animals.

Pork is in stock!

We got more pork back from the processor this past week. We’ve seen a tremendous response already, so head over and stock up.

We have revamped our Referral Program!

It’s now easier than ever to Give $15 and Get $15 through our Referral Program.  We don’t spend a lot of money of advertising, but rather we focus on producing products that people love and are willing to tell others about.  So we depend on word of mouth to find new customers and ultimately to heal more land.

So in an effort to streamline this process we have made it easier to tell others (via email, Facebook, or Twitter) about Watson Farms.  And it’s all automated on the backend, so you don’t have to rely on us to issue the store credits manually.  Just head over to our Referrals Page and start sharing!

Product Spotlight

We’ve added some new products to our store lately, including Hot Dogs!  We have partnered with our friends at Hickory Nut Gap Meats in the Asheville, NC area to source these 100% grass-fed hot dogs from, and they are delicious.  Hickory Nut Gap producers adhere to the same protocols that we do, so no problem there either.

We have also added some things we think you’ll like to our apparel lineup including a Full Zip Hoodie that Kelly and I both really like.  It’s just light enough to be comfortable but heavy enough to break the chill.  These items are print-on-demand through a company called Printful, and most of the printing or embroidery for customers in the Southeast is done in their Charlotte facility.

You can see ALL of our ON SALE products with the button below.

For some of our recommended products, check out our Featured Product Page.  You might find something that you didn’t even know we had!

We re-use packaging!

We’ve seen a good response to our efforts in re-using packaging! Thanks and keep it up.

You can help us reduce our carbon footprint by returning your CLEAN egg cartons and meat boxes.

The main reason that we switched to plastic egg cartons a while back was because they are so much more durable than paper which could only be used once.  They also protect the eggs much better!

So if you have some egg cartons or boxes to return, you can just place them on your porch on your home delivery day.  Farm pickup customers can, of course, drop them off when you come to pick up your new order.

Thanks for helping us re-use our packaging!

Check it out!

Check out this ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ review:

If I could give them 6 stars, I would. They are absolutely sincere and go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need. They keep you updated on what’s coming available and how their livestock is raised. The beef, chicken, pork and eggs are above and beyond comparison. We believe in supporting our local farmers, you can see and taste the difference. Thank you Watson Farms!

We would greatly appreciate it if you would be kind enough to leave us a review.  It helps first-time customers purchase with confidence.

Thanks again for being partners in this endeavor of local, pasture-raised proteins that has truly transformed our farm.  We look forward to continuing this transition while serving you long into the future.

Sincerely,

The Watsons
