Pasture Posts #153

Here’s the weekly roundup from Watson Farms and your direct connection to your farmer. Enjoy the latest edition of Pasture Posts!

Cattle Attract Birds

One important fact about cattle raised regeneratively is that they enhance the amount of life that the landscape supports. We’ve talked before about how our cattle help to build soil, but did you realize that when cattle are on the landscape and soil life increases so does the amount of birds?

We easily find this to be the case on our farm. The earthworms, flies, grasshoppers and other insects all encourage bird activity. We believe this is the natural order of things and we try to mimic this natural symbiosis with the key species being cattle.

In a recent blog post, our friend, Joel Salatin, pointed to a neighbor of his that does a great job explaining the importance of grassland bird species and their dependence on herbivores for survival. Check out the YouTube channel of Michael Godfrey where he has some great information on grassland birds. Here’s a video to get you started.

Pastured Pork has been re-stocked!

We received a good amount of pork back from the processor this past week so now is a great time to stock up on non-GMO, pasture-raised pork!

By the way, when we say “pasture-raised” we mean that they are rotated every 5-7 days to a new paddock. They love grazing and rooting and live a life in stark contrast to their industrial counterparts.

Tell a Friend!

It’s now easier than ever to Give $15 and Get $15 through our Referral Program. We don’t spend a lot of money of advertising, but rather we focus on producing products that people love and are willing to tell others about. So we depend on word of mouth to find new customers and ultimately to heal more land.

So in an effort to streamline this process we have made it easier to tell others (via email, Facebook, or Twitter) about Watson Farms. And it’s all automated on the backend, so you don’t have to rely on us to issue the store credits manually. Just head over to our Referrals Page and start sharing!

Did you know that we have a webpage that displays all the reviews we have received?

Check it out!

Check out this ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ review:

“I just made burgers last night with the ground beef that we purchased a couple of weeks ago at Watson Farms and was absolutely blown away by how much better it was than store bought. It was literally like eating a chopped up steak rather than just a homogenous meat. I’m sold!”

We would greatly appreciate it if you would be kind enough to leave us a review.  It helps first-time customers purchase with confidence.

Thanks again for being partners in this endeavor of local, pasture-raised proteins that has truly transformed our farm.  We look forward to continuing this transition while serving you long into the future.

Sincerely,

The Watsons
